Where as he wants his daughter to take up an academic career and be a successor of him and her two sisters as a solid professional instead of maligning his social reputation by taking up a lowly game like Kabaddi.
His views about the game have been formed over the years where he saw his elder brother and an ace Kabaddi player Bala Satam turning into an alcoholic and creating a financial mess for his family with his debts leaving him as the sole bread earner for the family.
Purva’s only support comes from her widow aunt , who understands the passion for the game and is also the silent secret keeper of her husband Bala Satams sacrifices for his younger brother Sharad. Aunt and the Father are the representatives of two value systems and the friction within them.
Gulab is Purva’s young team coach , who’s only passion and love is the game o f Kbaddi. Babu the driver of the house hold also stands by Purva’s side for the sake of his sister and Purva’s team mate Kamli.
The characters and the language have their roots deep down in their local milieu and the socio economic strata which is the biggest strength of the play. While bringing out the friction between the ideologies the playwright addresses a lot of social issues like parenting, pressures of the youth , the state of games and the politics in the games arena.
